INFORMATION
OFFICER
(One Year
Term Commencing August, 2015)
This position is responsible for
the development and promotion of excellent communications between the School
Division and the community. The
successful applicant will also be responsible for all aspects of planning
special events within the Division (i.e. employee recognition events). This position will involve evening work to
cover Board meetings and school events.
Specific duties will
include the writing, editing, design layout and photography for the Division
newsletter (distributed throughout the community five times annually),
brochures and other informational material.
Assisting with maintaining ongoing media contact and involvement in the
marketing of the Division and schools is also involved.
Qualifications required
include post secondary training in journalism, public relations or
equivalent. Previous experience in
writing, design layout and photography is essential. Experience and a solid understanding of
current Adobe design applications are required; specifically InDesign,
Photoshop and LightRoom. Web design
skills and experience using social media as a marketing tool would be
considered an asset. Experience in planning of special events is strongly
preferred. Knowledge of the public
school system would be a definite asset.
A valid driver’s license and legally registered and reliable motor
vehicle are required.
