Special Events Assistant (Summer Position)
Background:
The Manitoba Arts Network (MAN) is a non-profit organization that brings high quality performing and visual arts to 7 different regions of the province, reaching over 20,000 Manitobans Annually. Collaborating with artists, industry partners, and a range of cultural organizations, the Network presents over 60 performances and mounts art exhibitions in 25 locations each year.
Representing over 35 member organizations who engage the support of hundreds of volunteers, we are collectively building creative communities by bringing the arts to the heart of Manitoba. In partnership with the Federal Government’s Canada Summer Jobs program MAN is seeking a dynamic, creative and self-motivated individual to serve as the Special Events Assistant at our Winnipeg office.
Responsibilities:
The Special Events Assistant, under the direction of the Executive Director and other staff, shall provide assistance in the following areas:
Manitoba Showcase (annual conference)
Assist in coordination of conference logistics and preparation of related materials
Compile, edit and proof information for annual Performing Arts Directory
Confirm artist registration and technical requirements for showcase performances
Engage, inform and promote artists, events and communities through social media
Identify and cultivate potential Manitoba Showcase attendees
Update performing arts program forms, contact lists and database
Rural and Northern Art Show
Develop materials and coordinate logistics for the Rural & Northern Art Show in July
Intake and coordinate artist registrations and build excel contact list
other duties as needed
General
Assist with annual membership drive
Categorize resource and links section for website
Research
Knowledge and Experience:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience planning special events
Strong project management, and documentation skills
Works independently with minimal supervision and takes initiative
Positive attitude, facilitation and sharing attributes
Proficient with basic workplace PC applications
Knowledge of Performing and/or Visual Arts an asset
Qualifications:
Candidates must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, 18-30 years of age and a full-time post-secondary student intending to return to their studies in the next school year. A Criminal record check will be required upon job offer.
Term: Nine weeks (Mid June- August 30, 2015) Wage: $10.70/hour
