An eligibility list may be created for similar positions and will remain in effect for 12 months.

A degree or diploma in communications plus at least three to five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  The successful candidate will have extensive experience in issues management, media relations, strategic communication planning and project management.  Demonstrated ability in a wide variety of communications activities and writing styles, such as news releases, speeches, publications, event coordination, and strategic communications planning, is also required.  Must also have excellent interpersonal, consultation skills, conceptual and analytical skills, ability to problem-solve in challenging situations, a high level of initiative, and the ability to work effectively and manage a variety of assignments with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  Experience or knowledge of government programs and issues is also considered as an asset.

Communications Coordinators are part of a central team providing communications and advertising services to all provincial government departments.  The successful candidate will be responsible for media relations, communications project management and short- and long-term strategic communications planning.  Specific duties include advising government departments on communications issues, preparing news releases and other communications materials, coordinating announcements and directing other staff and external suppliers involved in these activities.
