Blueberry Festival And Special Events Program Coordinator

In 2011, the Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival is celebrating its 29th year. It has grown from a few local events to now over 100 events. The festival attracts hundreds of visitors from around the region and around the world. The coordinator is responsible for the overall condition of the festival, and reports to the Blueberry Board of Directors.

Terms of Employment: One year Contract Position

Salary: To be negotiated
 
Anticipated Start Date: January 3, 2011
 
Location: Sioux Lookout, ON
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for all day to day operations including correspondence, business planning, budgeting and event coordination of the Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival
-Responsible for all media relations, advertising & promotion, merchandising & sales
-Research and plan new events and fundraisers throughout the year
-Responsible for maintaining the website
-Seek sponsorship from local businesses and organizations
-Represent the Blueberry Festival at other functions throughout the year
-Research and obtain government funding
-Responsible for acquiring permits, licenses, and remitting forms and payments as required
-Responsible for hiring summer staff
-Schedule and attend all Blueberry Festival Committee meetings, distribute information and minutes
-Create surveys for the festival and gather and include data in year end report
-Act as a liaison between the Blueberry Committee and the Municipality of Sioux Lookout

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Graduate of a Post-Secondary program in Business, Marketing, Tourism, Communications, Project Management, or related field
-The ability to work independently, with minimum supervision
-Willingness to work evenings and weekends
-Strong organizational skills and problem solving skills
-Excellent communication skills, oral and written
-A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications

REQUIREMENTS:
-Northern Ontario Second School Graduate
-Must be 29 years of age or under
- Recently graduated from an accredited college or university
